Travel Talk Sessions - Travel Planning

Travel Planning is a place to meet and interact with other travelers, learn the 'Art of Travel' and Trip Builder functionality as well as other travel related topics.

Session topics are designed to educate on how to use our travel tools to research, organize, plan, and create a trip.  In fact, you can start planning and building a trip a year or more in advance with our Trip Builder.  Create your trip's basic framework and as you discover new places and activities, add them in.  Watch your trip take shape as you build the perfect trip that works for you.  All this can be done before making a single booking, so you are free to change anything you like and as often as you like.

You have probably heard the expression: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." Meaning: True help is about giving people skills and tools to take care of themselves, rather than just giving short-term aid.

Travel Talk

Travel Planning Sessions are personal sessions between you and one of our travel professionals designed to help you plan and create your trip.

Travel Planning Sessions use the same Travel Talk Framework

General Sessions

These sessions are not intended to answer the question: I'm going to Paris, what should I see and do, but rather help you understand how to plan and organize a trip to any location or multiple locations you are interested in.

An example of what may be covered in a Travel Talk Session is finding and booking a hotel in Paris France.  Initially you may be looking for an hotel that looks nice and is affordable, but in Paris and other cities for that matter, there are more things to consider. For starters, you should think about transportation to your hotel.  Is it easily accessible from the Metro, can you walk from a train station or will you need a taxi?  If you take the metro, do you know how to purchase a ticket and what kind of ticket?  Is the hotel central to your planned activities?  If you plan to leave for another destination, will it be easy to reach your departure point from the hotel?  Does the hotel offer an included breakfast, does your room have a onsuite bathroom or is it shared?  Is the room air conditioned?  What are the check-in and check-out times and do they provide luggage storage.  The topic is designed to educate you on what to look for and think about when selecting a hotel at any destination on your itinerary.

Things to consider when selecting a hotel
1) Price - Is it a good deal for the money on within your budget?
2) Location to arrival/departure points - Is it convenient to your arrival/departure points? Do you know how to get there?
3) Location to attractions - Is it convenient to the attractions you plan to visit as well as other activities?
4) Bathroom - Does it come with a private in room bathroom or does it have a shared bathroom?
5) AC - Is your room air conditioned?
6) Breakfast - Is it included?
7) Check In/Out Times - What are the check-in and check-out times?
8) Luggage - Do they provide luggage storage for early arrival or late departure?
