  You can actually save a lot on your flights by switching to a European Low Cost Carrier once you have reached your initial arrival point before heading on to other destinations.      

Rail Passes Assume a multi-country Eurail Pass for 5 travel days in a 1 month period.

*You may find Senior Disconts or discounts for couples traveling together.

    1st Class vs. 2nd Class      
  Purchasing a 2nd class pass compared to a 1st class pass will save on your pass.      

Car You can find great deals on nice and new rental cars for as little as $15/Day.

On your trip, you plan to rent a car for 4 of the 10 days.

Car with Full Insurance Coverage, assume $100/Day.  ($100x4 Days)=$400

    Auto Insurance      
  If you plan on purchasing the full coverage insurance offered by the rental agency, you can plan to pay an additional $85/Day or more.  Now your $15/Day rental car is costing you $100/Day.

Using your personal auto insurance should cover your car rental, but there are many things to consider when waiving the full coverage Automobile Insurance offered by the rental agency.
